Welcome to Breaking Barriers!
Welcome to Breaking Barriers! So here it is, our very first post! For this post it’s going to be a welcome post and an introductory post. After some months of discussing and planning this website and finally being able to piece it together and set it up, it’s time to launch it!
Why have we decided to do this?
The reason is that we both have a huge interest and passion in traveling the world. Learning about new cultures and countries. Seeing the histories of these areas, and experiencing new and exciting things, whether it’s an activity or it’s the local cuisine. We have both been to many countries individually before we met. However, this time, we have decided to document everything together. We realized that it would be nice to have these memories, and to share our travels and experiences online for others to see also.
There is another reason. Too often we have gone on sites and we see the same recurring trips. Holidays in Bali. Touring Petra. Weekend in Paris. Yes, we intend on going to these at some stage. But most of our trips will be to places that are quite often out of people’s thoughts. Our trips are not to the usual places most other people go. When we do adventure holidays our aim is to have them different to everyone else. We want to create an exciting site that people can enjoy reading and following our travels. We want to show people that there is so much more to the world than is usually shown in the widespread media.
Hopefully our experiences can be used as a reference for people when they are traveling themselves and can help others to have good times wherever they go also.
The plan for the future
Not only will we be going to new countries and documenting these, we also plan on going back over the countries we have already been to. Initially we plan on traveling to five new locations every year. Some will be long vacations. Others will be shorter such as weekend trips and city breaks.
Our main aim is to visit each country in the world at least once. Yes we know this is a very optimistic aim. But it is possible, and with our passion and dedication for living life to the fullest we feel that we can accomplish this. We want to look back and feel like we accomplished everything we could in life. We don’t want to ever feel regret for not trying something at least once. At the end of the day, we want to have the best time we can, and to encourage others to do the same.
What will we document?
Our posts will include activities we do, places we go, any trips we have gone on, and anything else that we think may be of interest to others. Not just when we are travelling, but also about our preparations and any upcoming plans we have. Basically our aim is to make our posts interesting for others to read, and useful for anybody planning on going where we have been.
We will make a guide for each country and have it stored in the ‘Destinations” page which will give an insight into each country and some tips on where to go and what to do and see when there. It will also include some general travelling tips like visas, etc.
What else will be on the page?
We also have a gallery section where we will store our pictures. People can go to the tab for any country and see the pictures we have taken from there so they know what to expect from that country.
We have links to our FaceBook page, Instagram account, and YouTube channel for people to see more of us and follow our adventures and travels.
There is a contact page in the event that you want more information about anything. Feel free to drop us an email and we will be more than happy to assist you in whatever query you have or recommendations about something we have done or somewhere we have been.
Apart from the above we have various categories on the right hand side of the page. Under these you can find posts under a relevant category. So if you are looking for posts on ‘Sightseeing’ for example it will be under this. There is also a ‘Scuba Diving’ and ‘Skydiving’ category. We both aim to have scuba certification soon and will be posting dive sites we visit under ‘Scuba Diving’. The ‘Skydiving’ category will include drop-zones we visit once we both have our licences. This category will also include our journey to getting the licences.
There is a ‘Golf’ section on the top menu. As we travel to other countries sometimes playing golf we will be doing reviews of the courses we play under the ‘Golf’ category.
So there it is. We hope that we can accomplish our target and that by doing so we can inspire others to do the same. If it’s not in traveling, then in whatever target they set for themselves.
